The second night of Summerfest was so much fun. Downtown Columbia’s 9th street was packed again, this time to see Kacey Musgraves. There were lots of girls wearing their cowgirl boots and pageant tiaras eagerly waiting to see the Pageant Material singer perform.
When the crew began putting up the set, we all knew it was going to be a good night. There was hot pink tinsel hanging as the background and large neon cacti (I had to look up the plural for “cactus”). Then the band came out wearing colorful retro suits that light up, and the anticipation to see Kacey only built.
When Kacey came out, the crowd cheered and began singing along with her. I’ve heard her songs over and over again, but it was so great to see her live. She is super relatable, and you can tell the songs are reflections of her thoughts and feelings. The crowd loved her, and how could they not? She’s a small town girl who isn’t afraid to make fun of her upbringing a little.
