Let’s be honest… Everyone wants to have clear, flawless skin, but it’s not always the easiest thing to achieve. From indulging in fried foods to sleeping overnight with a full face of makeup, our skin is often not treated the best. Unhealthy habits often result in unhealthy skin, which is a problem. Many try countless facial exfoliators, pimple treatments, skin toners, and serums to hopefully obtain a perfect complexion. The reality, however, is that most of these products we use are often unnatural and harsh on our skin. While a quick result may be given, the long-term effects are not always worth the speedy accessibility. The problem is that most all natural facial products can often be extremely pricey and a challenge to splurge on. However, do not be discouraged! There are so many simple, easy, and budget-friendly DIY face scrub recipes that actually work! I know, at first a DIY face scrub sounds slightly suspicious, and maybe even too good to be true, but I assure you, it’s not!
Here are five amazing DIY facial scrub recipes:
- “Sugar Scrub”
One facial scrub that has stood the test of time is the classic “Sugar Scrub”. Not only is it super simple to make, but it’s also so effective (and you can even use it for your scalp)!
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp. Granulated sugar (preferably organic)
- ⅛ tsp. Water
- ⅛ tsp. Plant-based essential oil (lemon, lavender, orange)
Directions:
First, mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl or jar. Then, rub the mixture onto the skin with your fingertips, making sure to avoid the eyes. After rubbing the scrub into the skin for a minute or two, rinse it off with water, and pat the skin dry with a clean towel. For the most effective results, apply scrub 3-4 times a week. Not only will your skin smell lovely, but it will look lovely, as well!
- “Chocolate Sugar Scrub”
A fun, yummy smelling face scrub recipe is the “Chocolate Sugar Scrub”! Not only does it sound delicious, it also is beneficial for cleansing and renewing your skin!
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp. Cocoa powder
- ⅛ cup Olive oil
- ¼ cup Brown sugar
- ¼ tsp. Vanilla extract
Directions:
First, mix all the ingredients together, making sure the cocoa powder and brown sugar are evenly mixed in. Then, gently rub the mixture onto the face for 1-2 minutes. If desired, let the scrub sit on the face for up to 15 minutes. Finally, rinse off the scrub and pat the face dry. This scrub will soften and brighten your complexion… The tasty ingredients are only an added bonus!
- “Honey Scrub”
A favorite scrub is the “Honey Scrub,” known for its simplistic nature and lasting results!
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp. Honey (preferably raw)
- 2 tbsp. Sugar (granulated is fine)
Directions:
Simply mix the honey and sugar together in a small container. If the honey and sugar won’t mix easily, add a few drops of water to make mixing and application easier. Apply and rub the scrub over the face for 1-2 minutes. For the most effective results, let the scrub sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, and pat skin dry with a clean towel. I have no doubt this easy, affordable facial scrub will make not only your skin happy but also your wallet!
- “Baking Soda Scrub”
This “Baking Soda Scrub” does wonders for removing blackheads and whiteheads from the skin, working to give you a clear, spotless complexion!
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp. Baking soda powder
- 1 tbsp. Lemon juice
- 2 tbsp. Raw milk
Directions:
Thoroughly mix all three ingredients together until the mixture is consistent, smoothing out any lumps. Next, apply to the skin, moving fingers in circular motions across the face. Concentrate the scrubbing on the nose and chin, as these tend to be the places most heavily populated with blackheads and whiteheads. Let the scrub sit for five to ten minutes, or until it is mostly dry. Then, massage the face in circular motions with wet fingers. This helps remove the face of dead skin and cleans out pores. Rinse the face with water and pat dry. For desired results, apply scrub one to two times a week, primarily focusing on the nose and chin. You will be blown away by the minimization of your blackheads and whiteheads, and the overall glow your facial complexion will receive!
- “Eucalyptus Scrub”
A common problem for all individuals with naturally oily skin is that they are prone to have acne problems. Although in oil form, “Eucalyptus Scrub” is an antibacterial oil-based scrub, which means it can do wonders for the skin, especially oily, acne-prone complexions!
Ingredients:
- ⅛ tsp. Eucalyptus essential oil (antibacterial)
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tbsp. Extra-virgin olive oil
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients together in a mixer and mix well. Next, place in a jar, or sealable container. Take out the desired amount, and rub into the face with your fingers, moving in a circular motion. For most heavily desired results, use twice a week. This “Eucalyptus Scrub” will not only stop oil from surfacing but also prevent unnecessary acne breakouts. Just wait, you will be blown away with the incredible results this scrub will have on your skin!
