As I look back at these beautiful birth photography photos I can’t help but shed some happy tears. She was so little! So beautiful then too! I’m glad my first thoughts didn’t go to the insane pain or exhaustion I was feeling in those moments. Like any mother, I’m quick to tell you it was all worth it.
As I’m writing this, 3-week-old baby Reese is napping next to me talking in her sleep, and I can’t believe how the time has flown by. I remember that crazy relief feeling of her head exiting my body and seeing her for the first time and feeling almost disbelief that my body had made a baby and that baby was currently on my chest. Her big eyes looked around at the world, and all I could do was stare at her. She was so tiny, so perfect, so mine.
However, I also remember being wheeled out of Labor and Delivery holding my precious baby girl and hearing the lady in the room next to me screaming in pain and thinking man, I’m glad I’m already done. That first day I felt very in love with my baby, but also a bit traumatized by the painful and difficult birth.
Childbirth is no joke, but there is so much beauty in it. My birth photos were done by Photography By Angelique, and I love how she captured our special moments. The pictures are such treasures and I will value them always.
