Beauty Secrets From Around the Globe

Guest Post by Mia Taylor

They say the only constant is change, and that resonates true on so many aspects of life, including beauty and skincare. While it’s important to stick to an established grooming regimen in order to give it time and opportunity to make an impact, it’s always good to give something new a try. Change can be a great thing, and in terms of skincare and beauty, taking a peek into the routines of gorgeous women around the globe can be eye-opening. After all, every country is filled with both ancient and modern-day rituals and an order to enrich your life and upgrade your beauty game it’s always better to follow the saying ‘two heads think better than one’. In our case, the number of heads is far larger than one, so let’s jump right in and see what the world has in store for us.

The land of the luminous

We can’t deny that naturally luminous skin that requires little to no makeup is the absolute skincare dream. You probably weren’t aware of this, but the gorgeous women of Chile have been using a well-known wine ingredient to achieve that radiance from within. If you’re thinking it’s grapes, you are right. Red grapes are full of antioxidants, and we all know how important they are for the health and youthful look of the skin. Simply mash a handful of grapes in a bowl and add a sufficient amount of flour to create a paste. Afterwards, simply apply the mask to the face, rest with it for about ten minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. What you’ll discover is a fresh face free of dullness and signs of fatigue.

The land that took the natural route

Women from Australia are often thought of as beachy-waved, sun-loving carefree beauties, and for the most part, they are. However, these nature-loving girls never take skincare and sun protection lightly, and they do everything in their power to keep their skin safe. They are so mindful they don’t allow just any product to come near them, and they only choose organic and natural makeup. That is precisely why, in recent years, Australia has become the birthplace of some of the most amazing organic skincare brands, and one of the latest addition is Kora Organics by Australia’s own Miranda Kerr, and one of the most coveted line of products is the 3-step system. The lesson to learn from Aussie girls is – you’ll never be in the wrong if you take the natural route.

The land that never grows old

It’s often said that Japan is even more concerned with youthfulness than the Americans. Still, their approach differs enormously. American women usually tackle the signs of aging when they’ve already appeared while Japanese girls nip this ‘movement’ in the bud. Their secret: they always apply SPF and broad-spectrum sunblock before leaving the house, and they even take things a step further by frequently carrying parasols with a special UV reflective lining to additionally protect their face and body from UVA and UVB rays. Might sound a little extreme, but the lesson on the importance of sun protection comes across loud and clear.

The land of the shiny hair

One of the latest nutritional crazes is definitely the avocado. Everyone seems to be in love with it –from us mere mortals to top chefs and prestigious restaurants. Little did we know that avocado has been the secret elixir for healthy shiny hair among the women of Colombia. Head to the kitchen and start mixing; you’ll need an avocado, a banana and a tablespoon of olive oil, mesh together until you get a paste. Massage it gently into the scalp first and work your way down to the ends. Entertain yourself with something for about half an hour and then hop in the shower, shampoo, condition, dry and you’re done. Silky hair is there.

The land of no tiredness

We all know that certain dark circles exist and we all try to fight them. Expensive eye creams can step aside because the ultimate hack for getting rid of the pesky circles comes from Spain. What you want to do is cut a potato into super-thin slices (for bendiness), close your eyes and place the slices on top for about ten to fifteen minutes. You’ll notice the brightening effect from the very first time, but in order to uncover the real effectiveness of potato, it’s best to repeat the routine often – that’s when the real magic happens.
