A few months ago I saw a picture of a baby in a crib filled with balloons, and I knew I wanted to do something similar for Reese’s 1st birthday. I decided to take my own spin on the idea and get some pics of her in her crib decorated with party decor and use the pics for her party invitations. I totally winged the whole thing, but I think the pictures turned out so cute!

First I got balloons at Dollar General. I got one pack of plain white and one pack of plain pink. They blew the balloons up there for free, which was super nice, but they must have been overfilled because more than half popped between leaving the store and getting the balloons to Reese’s room. I still ended up with 4 or 5, which ended up looking fine.

Then I opened the package of 1st birthday party decorations that I got on Amazon. I bought a kit for just $29.99, and I’ll certainly be reusing the decorations at her birthday party. I strung up the banners that said “one” on them and put the little party hat that came in the kit on Reese.

To take the pics, I played baby shark (her favorite song), and Kyle made funny faces at her to make her giggle. I shot the pictures on my iPhone instead of one of our fancy cameras so that I could take advantage of the live photo feature. This feature really comes in handy when shooting pictures of young children. You can just pick the frame that they look best in!

I edited the photos using presets on the mobile Lightroom app, but you could really use any photo editing app you like. The VSCO app has some really nice filters for those who aren’t comfortable using Lightroom and presets.

I just love how the photos turned out!

I vlogged the whole experience on my YouTube channel here:
