Hosting My First Thanksgiving

I hosted my first Thanksgiving this year! I feel like it was a big step in being a newlywed/homeowner/adult. Ha! At first, the idea of hosting 11 people and two dogs sounded a bit overwhelming, but the more I thought about it, the more excited I got. Ever since we moved into our house in May, I’ve been working to make it a home. I’ve been decorating, organizing, and cleaning every weekend since move-in day.

I made the turkey, stuffing, and gravy and everyone else brought over a couple of dishes. We had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, cranberry sauce, calico salad, noodles, and a nice spread of desserts. There was plenty to go around. I had never made a turkey before, but I stuck to a simple recipe and cooked it in the roaster that I got as a wedding gift. It turned out pretty good! I do hope it’ll be a while before I have to stick my hand up a turkey butt again though.

My Aunt Kathie sent over the prettiest centerpiece, and I pulled out some nice runners for the kitchen table and buffet station. We put the extender in our table, and it ended up able to fit everyone. I also turned the buffet station into a cute bar/desert area.

It was a great Thanksgiving! Watch my vlog of the day here:
