Guest Post by Mia Taylor
Another fashion month is coming to an end, which means that we have a plethora of choices when it comes to cuts, colors, prints, patterns – it’s all here for the taking. Now, we can all probably agree that, upon close inspection, the runways were full of questionable, silly and sometimes downright unwearable choices. However, where there is quantity, there will be quality, you just have to know where to look. This, of course, brings us to today. We have done our homework so you don’t have to, and we’re bringing you some of the finest and most relatable trends so you can dazzle this spring, and probably well into summer, so let’s summon the sun.
The biggest impact
Perhaps there were more outrageous and memorable looks, but for an everyday woman who wants to look polished while keeping up with trends, there is nothing that can beat the power of a suit. Everyone from Marc Jacobs to Stella McCartney presented their own version of the suit. Some were fitted, some featured wide-leg pants with fitted blazers. There were those in bright saturated colors and those that came in more subtle and subdued versions, but the suit is definitely here, and all you have to do is go with your instinct and choose between the neutral grey and plaid or statement color family. The best thing about the suit is that you can mix and match, wear the pants with regular tees or the jacket with a great pair of jeans. The suit provides versatility, and you can take your look from ultimately professional to cool and casual using just a pinch of imagination. The suit look goes best with sleek hair, so always have the best hair nourishing weapons in your arsenal.
There are occasions when a woman simply wants to feel like a star, and no garment can do the job as nicely as an amazing dress. This season was filled with floor-length dresses, whether pastel, floral, sheer or sequin, so luckily there are plenty of different amazing evening dresses online from Australia, for every taste and style persona. For an angelic look, pastels are the way to go. Full glam calls for sparkles, and the wow factor is to be achieved with a sheer dress. The best thing is, whichever route you take, you’ll stay trendy, so just follow your gut. Of course, don’t forget that with a killer look you also have to keep your face glowing, so make sure to nurture it with only the best skincare products, because healthy and glowing skin is actually the biggest trend of all.
The incredible return
We are almost certain that the polka dot fandom has been holding its breath waiting for the beloved and playful print to make a grand comeback. Granted, the dots weren’t overflowing in spring lines, but it only takes one powerful designer to bring them back, and the incredible Carolina Herrera, a believer in pure elegance and practicality has heard us. The black and white combo will be dominant this season, so feel free to go scouting for your new favorite dress, blouse, neck scarf or even pants, because the polka is back. It’s playful without being overly extravagant, and it’s the perfect print to rock, whether you want to dazzle or simply add a touch of whimsy into your everyday style. A touch of blush and a coat of mascara is enough to make this look beaming with whimsy.
Some things don’t change
Spring can throw us curveballs, we’re all too well-aware of this, which is why it’s important to be prepared for sudden showers and temperature drops – in style of course. This is why we’re overjoyed with the number of classic trench coats that came strutting down the runways. Some took a deconstructed and even floral-embroidered route, while others were presented in their original and timelessly elegant form. Feel free to keep your motto leather jacket, because it will never go out of style, but snag this timeless beauty just to up your fashion game and fight the shifty spring weather. Put a fierce red lipstick on, and conquer the day.
Bring on the denim
Things are shaking up in the denim universe, and while we’re not expecting everyone to abandon their beloved skinny jeans, we are advising you to look into some other options and give them a fair shot. One of them is flared jeans. Not only are they trendy, but they’ll also give you a touch of that ‘70s vibe, not to mention that they will visually elongate the legs. If you’re not keen on this one, the word on the runways is that culottes are here to stay, so this might be an even more chic alternative. Just imagine – a simple white shirt, a pair of culottes and a neck scarf, you’ll feel like you’re in Saint-Tropez.
