A Year Later… | One Year Of Marriage Anniversary Life Update

Oh my goodness, one year of marriage? That seems crazy! It seems like just yesterday I was getting dressed for the big day. But it has been a year and a wonderful year at that. Sure there have been challenges along the way, but I am so grateful to be just where I’m at.

Right after our wedding, we headed off to our dream Hawaii honeymoon. Neither of us had ever been to Hawaii, and we were just mesmerized by its beauty. It was wonderful to get away and just enjoy paradise together. We often would laugh at how weird it felt to call each other “my husband” or “my wife.”

Once we were home, we dove into house hunting. Kyle moved into my tiny apartment, but we knew that was no way to live. Our wedding gifts filled our guest room, and he had nowhere to put any of his things. Fortunately, we found a house rather quickly, while filming the show House Hunters!

We moved in and began making the house a home. Living together and each having strong opinions about how we liked things was a growing experience for both of us, and we had to learn to compromise, pick our battles, and to make up and move on.

This upcoming year we have plans for lots of travel, something both of us wanted to do before diving into the role of becoming parents. We have a Europe trip that we will be leaving for in just a week, and then this fall we will be heading to Hawaii again for Kyle’s brother’s wedding.

A lot of people are now asking us when we want to have kids, but for now, I’m pretty content with how our life is. Every weekday we get home from work, eat dinner together, cuddle on the couch, and then head to bed. On the weekends, we sleep in, get some house chores done, but spend most of the day having fun together. I know that adding a baby into the mix would also be wonderful, but I think it would sure throw a wrench in our current routine. ;-). Who knows, maybe in a few months I’ll feel different.

I am very grateful for my life and my husband. We have both learned a lot this year and have grown together. I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store.
